Leaders, are you offering superficial treatments for a mortal wound? – Jeremiah 6:13-14

Jeremiah 6:13-14 “From the least to the greatest, their lives are ruled by greed. From prophets to priests, they are all frauds. They offer superficial treatments for my people’s mortal wound. They give assurances of peace when there is no peace.” – God

Praying for God's people in my city to find true healing.

Praying for God’s people in my city to find true healing.

What is God saying to me? It is clear that the sin of God’s people falls back on the leaders of God’s people. “The priests did not ask, ‘Where is the lord?’ Those who taught my word ignored me, the rulers turned against me, and the prophets spoke in the name of Baal, wasting their time on worthless idols” (v.2:8). “So I will go and speak to their leaders. Surely they know the ways of the LORD and understand God’s laws.” But the leaders, too, as one man, had thrown off God’s yoke and broken his chains” (v.5:5). Clearly, the leaders of God’s people are offering superficial treatments for a mortal wound.

How will I obey? As a leader of God’s people, I must not teach life and it improved but Jesus and Him crucified. He is the only one that can heal our mortal wound. Also in our One Year Bible reading today: “For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross” (Colossians 1:19-20).

Who will I tell? My morning Bible study.
