Context: Paul is explaining that we received a sin nature (death reigning) through Adam, and it was shown to us through the law.  Now we can receive the gift of righteousness (life reigning) by grace through faith in Christ.

Romans 5:17 – “For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!”

Observations:

• If – by the trespass of the one man (Adam),
  • death reigned through that one man,
• Then – how much more will those
  • who receive God’s abundant provision of grace
  • and of the gift of righteousness
    • reign in life
      • through the one man,
        • Jesus Christ!

Application: Life, not death, reigns in my life by grace through faith in Christ.  I want to celebrate that today.  I will pray for opportunities to explain this “gift of righteousness” to those that I come into contact with.
