Today’s Reading: Haggai 1-2, Revelation 11, Psalm 139, Proverbs 30:15-16
Proverbs 30:15-16 – The leech has two daughters: Give and Give. Three things are never satisfied; four never say, “Enough”: Sheol, the barren womb, the land never satisfied with water, and the fire that never says, “Enough.”
Observations:
- Leeches say – Give and Give (to me)
- They are Never satisfied / never say “enough:”
- Sheol
- The barren womb
- The land never satisfied with water
- And the fire that never says “Enough”
Several years ago I read a Garfield comic. He was walking around his house saying “gimmy, gimmy, gimmy, gimmy, etc.” At the end he stopped and said – I’m just getting into the Christmas spirit.” At this time of year, it is amazing to see the drive for stuff in our culture. I know that heart of Christmas, Jesus, is sacrificial giving. Proverbs 30:15-16 tells us that the dark sides of our hearts are like leeches asking others to “give and give” to us. When will we ever get enough?
Apply: Lord, help me see what I have as enough. Help me to raise Anna to know that Your provisions are always enough.
What helps you to see what you have as enough?
