Psalms 90:14 – Satisfied?

S – Psalms 90:14 “Satisfy us each morning with Your unfailing love, so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.”

O – David is praying for a spiritual filling from God every morning.  The result will be joyful praise that will last a lifetime.  Piper writes: God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.”

A – I want to make sure I am connecting with God in a real way each morning.  Today, I want to focus on letting the unfailing love He has shown me come out in joyful songs.

P – Lord, satisfy us (me, my family, those in my community) each morning with Your unfailing love.

Have you experienced soul satisfaction today?  Find a time to be exposed to God’s unfailing love.

O – Even the angels are in “awe of God!”  He is “far more awesome” than everything else in HEAVEN.  A few verses prior (v.5) we read: “All heaven will praise your great wonders, Lord; myriads of angels will praise you for your faithfulness.”  In our Joshua reading (22:16) we read: “How could you turn away from the Lord and build an altar for yourselves in rebellion against him?”

A – Worship is my response to God for Who He is and what He has done.  I want to look for his glory today and respond with praise.

P – Lord, show me your glory!

Are you in awe of God?  If not, you are not seeing Who He is.

Joshua 14:12 – Caleb’s Courage

S – Joshua 14:12 – Caleb speaking: “So give me the hill country that the Lord promised me. You will remember that as scouts we found the descendants of Anak living there in great, walled towns. But if the Lord is with me, I will drive them out of the land, just as the Lord said.”

O – 45 years after spying out the land, Caleb’s heart is still courageous.  Notice where his courage comes from: 1. “the Lord promised me.”  2. “if the Lord is with me, I will drive them (The descendants of Anak – great warriors) out… just as the Lord said.”  Courage is a function of faith.

A – I want to take the land that God has promised me today with great courage.  If God has promised and He is with me, I cannot fail.

P – Lord, increase my faith.  I want to be a man of courage like Caleb.

How can you live like Caleb today?

Psalms 84:2 – Longing to Worship with My Whole Being

S – Psalms 84:2 “I long, yes, I faint with longing to enter the courts of the Lord. With my whole being, body and soul, I will shout joyfully to the living God.”

Since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. - Romans 1:20

O – David is longing to be with God.  He is declaring that he will shout joyfully to the living God with his whole being – body and soul.  God has been teaching me about worship over the last three weeks.  Real worship happens from the inside out.

A – Today, I will (claiming the truth that David did) shout joyfully to the living God with my body and soul.  I will focus on Him (soul) and speak of Him (body).

P – Lord, I long to worship You.  As I spend time with You, help me to respond to You with worship from the inside out.

How can you worship God with your whole being right now?

Proverbs 12:25 – Cheering People Up

S – Proverbs 12:25 “Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up.”

O – Worry brings down.  Encouragement lifts up.

A – 1. I want to be conscious of what I am allowing myself to worry about.  I need to cast all of my cares on Him.  2. I want to look for opportunities to cheer others up today through encouraging words.

P – Lord, thank You for giving me an exciting task today.  Help me to be an encourager today.

Are you weighing people down or cheering people up?

Deuteronomy 32:39 – No Other God

S – Deuteronomy 32:39 “Look now; I myself am He! There is no other god but Me! I am the one who kills and gives life; I am the one who wounds and heals; no one can be rescued from My powerful hand!”

Romans 1:20 - God's invisible qualities are clearly seen in creation.

Romans 1:20 – God’s invisible qualities are clearly seen in creation.

O – God invites us to look at Him.  When we see Him, we will worship Him.  Worship is my response to God for Who He is (God… powerful) and what He has done (kills and gives life, wounds and heals).

A – I want to “look now” at God.  I want to stop myself throughout the day and intentionally look for Him.

P – Lord, show me Your glory.  There is no other god but You!

Have you seen the glory of God?  Are you looking for Him?

Luke 10:40 – Serving Distracted

S – Luke 10:39-40 “Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what He taught. But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing.

BibleCoffeeCup-1

O – The story continues: “She came to Jesus and said, ‘Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to You that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.’ But the Lord said to her, ‘My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.’”

A – I default towards Martha’s personality.  I must make time today to sit at the feet of Jesus.  I must prevent myself from being “worried and upset over all these details.”  He is the only thing worth being concerned about.

P – Lord, help me keep the main thing (You) the main thing in my life.

What is distracting you today?  Have you made time to sit at Jesus’ feet?
