Acts 12:23 – Giving Glory

Today’s Reading: 1 Kings 19:1‐21, Acts 12:1‐23, Psalm 136:1‐26, Proverbs 17:14‐15

Acts 12:23 – Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him down, because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and breathed his last.

Observations:

  • Herod delivers a speech, the people respond by shouting “The voice of a god, and not of a man!” and this verse follows
  • An angel of the Lord struck him down and he was eat by worms
  • Why? – “because he did not give God the glory”

Apply: I must give God the glory in all things.  Specifically, I am going to make a conscious effort to give God the glory anytime I hear a positive response after I speak publicly.

What glory are you currently receiving that you should be giving to God?
